課程概述

This course is intended to help graduate students effectively apply fundamental English writing skills and knowledge for practical purposes. Students will be provided with the opportunities to cultivate their writing capabilities in a variety of writing genres, including grant proposals, study plans, and other professional correspondences. Students will be engaged in authentic case analyses and experience hands-on writing tasks via collaborative learning.

Course Intended Learning Outcome (CILO)

By the end of the course, students should be able to
CILO 1: critically evaluate and analyze a variety of texts for specific purposes (CC 1, 2 & 3)
CILO 2: apply writing skills and knowledge to constructing different writing genres (CC 1, 2 & 3)
CILO 3: recognize the features of authentic texts (CC 1 & 2)
CILO 4: develop proof-reading and self-editing skills (CC 1 & 3)
CILO 5: achieve effective written communication both in school and at work (CC 1, 2 & 3)

 
課程要求
1. Students are required to attend all classes. No more than three excused are permitted.
2. Active participation in class discussions is required.
3. Writing assignments are carefully scheduled as stages toward the fulfillment of the course’s objectives. All assignments are due in the next lecture. Late assignments are accepted, but the grades would be substantially lower and may not receive any feedback.
4. The assignments should be submitted electronically as a MS Word file.
